What is incidental learning?

Incidental learning refers to acquiring knowledge or skills unintentionally, in daily life and without conscious effort. It occurs in an informal setting and often happens spontaneously. For example, a person may learn new words while reading a newspaper or watching television or learn new skills while observing someone else. Incidental learning is different from intentional learning, in which a person has a specific goal and actively seeks to acquire knowledge or skills. Incidental learning can be a powerful tool for personal growth, as it allows individuals to expand their knowledge and skills without any added effort. However, it can also have limitations, as the knowledge gained may not always be accurate or complete.
